Tootstar.com was launched as the umbrella publication of Tootstar Concepts Pty Ltd, which is owned and managed by sole director Emma-Kate Dobbin.

Tootstar Concepts Pty Ltd is a creative company that specialises in advertising concepts, editorial, publishing, writing for television and film and the odd melody! 

Emma-Kate (27) started her career as a singer-songwriter and studied performance at the Institute of Music before moving to London at 20 years of age to follow her dream of “becoming a pop star”.

Between acoustic nights Emma-Kate became acquainted with a switchboard and moonlighted as a temp receptionist at many large companies with very exciting names and grand offices (none of which she owned). It was here she started writing and soon her underground ‘thought for the day’ column (a joke on corporate life) became a life force to thousands of office workers.

It was then that she said “Thank you for the music,” and left the life of an undiscovered pop star behind.

Upon returning to Sydney she studied journalism at the Australian College of Journalism while still working as a receptionist. She was then poached by The Sydney Morning Herald and went straight from the reception desk to weekly columnist.

Her column at Sydney’s premier newspaper, ‘Kiss and Tell’ was one of the most popular for 2 1/2 years. Her work has been featured in publications Bride To Be, Cosmo, Cleo, The Dating Survival Guide, NW, MX, The Sunday Telegraph, Sunday Life, Radar, Metro (NYC, UK, Philadelphia), and The Post.

She has been a guest on East Village Radio, NOVA, BAY FM, ABC, 2UE and VEGA FM.

Tootstar Concepts Pty Ltd has worked on concepts for many leading brands including Pepsi, Fast Life, Fairfax, and Amnesia Group to name-drop a few.

The ‘New York Loves Me’ campaign gained global media recognition in print, radio and online.

Tootstar.com is Tootstar Concept’s first publication and in the one year it’s been running has received worldwide acknowledgement for it’s sharp content.

Emma-Kate has red, curly hair and is divided between the USA and Australia. She has a fighting fish named Arthur and two best friends Camille, a publicist in Sydney, and Johe, a sound technician in New York. Her favourite day is Sunday and her favourite meal is breakfast!

She has just completed her first novel and is currently learning Spanish!  

Career highlight: When she was six she tap-danced with Sammy Davis Jr.
